Surah Al-Shuara (the poets)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Ayah: 1
Arabic:	طسم
Yusuf Ali:	Ta. Sin. Mim.

Ayah: 2
Arabic:	تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ
Yusuf Ali:	These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.

Ayah: 3
Arabic:	لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.

Ayah: 4
Arabic:	إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّن السَّمَاء آيَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.

Ayah: 5
Arabic:	وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ الرَّحْمَنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom.

Ayah: 6
Arabic:	فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنبَاء مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُون
Yusuf Ali:	They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at!

Ayah: 7
Arabic:	أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein?

Ayah: 8
Arabic:	إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

Ayah: 9
Arabic:	وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

Ayah: 10
Arabic:	وَإِذْ نَادَى رَبُّكَ مُوسَى أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,-

Ayah: 11
Arabic:	قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?"

Ayah: 12
Arabic:	قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:

Ayah: 13
Arabic:	وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَى هَارُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron.

Ayah: 14
Arabic:	وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	"And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me."

Ayah: 15
Arabic:	قَالَ كَلَّا فَاذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call).

Ayah: 16
Arabic:	فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds;

Ayah: 17
Arabic:	أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Yusuf Ali:	"'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'"

Ayah: 18
Arabic:	قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	(Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life?

Ayah: 19
Arabic:	وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"

Ayah: 20
Arabic:	قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.

Ayah: 21
Arabic:	فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one ofthe messengers.

Ayah: 22
Arabic:	وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"

Ayah: 23
Arabic:	قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"

Ayah: 24
Arabic:	قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	(Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure."

Ayah: 25
Arabic:	قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	(Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?"

Ayah: 26
Arabic:	قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	(Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!"

Ayah: 27
Arabic:	قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ
Yusuf Ali:	(Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!"

Ayah: 28
Arabic:	قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"

Ayah: 29
Arabic:	قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَهًا غَيْرِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	(Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!"

Ayah: 30
Arabic:	قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُّبِينٍ
Yusuf Ali:	(Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?"

Ayah: 31
Arabic:	قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	(Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!"

Ayah: 32
Arabic:	فَأَلْقَى عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
Yusuf Ali:	So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)!

Ayah: 33
Arabic:	وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاء لِلنَّاظِرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!

Ayah: 34
Arabic:	قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
Yusuf Ali:	(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed:

Ayah: 35
Arabic:	يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?"

Ayah: 36
Arabic:	قَالُوا أَرْجِهِ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect-

Ayah: 37
Arabic:	يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	"And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed."

Ayah: 38
Arabic:	فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
Yusuf Ali:	So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known,

Ayah: 39
Arabic:	وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?-

Ayah: 40
Arabic:	لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?"

Ayah: 41
Arabic:	فَلَمَّا جَاء السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win?

Ayah: 42
Arabic:	قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)."

Ayah: 43
Arabic:	قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَى أَلْقُوا مَا أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!"

Ayah: 44
Arabic:	فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغَالِبُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!"

Ayah: 45
Arabic:	فَأَلْقَى مُوسَى عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake!

Ayah: 46
Arabic:	فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration,

Ayah: 47
Arabic:	قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,

Ayah: 48
Arabic:	رَبِّ مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

Ayah: 49
Arabic:	قَالَ آمَنتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely heis your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sureI will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will causeyou all to die on the cross!"

Ayah: 50
Arabic:	قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord!

Ayah: 51
Arabic:	إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!"

Ayah: 52
Arabic:	وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued."

Ayah: 53
Arabic:	فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities,

Ayah: 54
Arabic:	إِنَّ هَؤُلَاء لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	(Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band,

Ayah: 55
Arabic:	وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And they are raging furiously against us;

Ayah: 56
Arabic:	وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَاذِرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"But we are a multitude amply fore-warned."

Ayah: 57
Arabic:	فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُم مِّن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Yusuf Ali:	So We expelled them from gardens, springs,

Ayah: 58
Arabic:	وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	Treasures, and every kind of honourable position;

Ayah: 59
Arabic:	كَذَلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Yusuf Ali:	Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.

Ayah: 60
Arabic:	فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	So they pursued them at sunrise.

Ayah: 61
Arabic:	فَلَمَّا تَرَاءى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَى إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken."

Ayah: 62
Arabic:	قَالَ كَلَّا إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ
Yusuf Ali:	(Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!"

Ayah: 63
Arabic:	فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ فَانفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ
Yusuf Ali:	Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So itdivided, and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of amountain.

Ayah: 64
Arabic:	وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	And We made the other party approach thither.

Ayah: 65
Arabic:	وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَى وَمَن مَّعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	We delivered Moses and all who were with him;

Ayah: 66
Arabic:	ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	But We drowned the others.

Ayah: 67
Arabic:	إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

Ayah: 68
Arabic:	وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

Ayah: 69
Arabic:	وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
Yusuf Ali:	And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story.

Ayah: 70
Arabic:	إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?"

Ayah: 71
Arabic:	قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them."

Ayah: 72
Arabic:	قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?"

Ayah: 73
Arabic:	أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Or do you good or harm?"

Ayah: 74
Arabic:	قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَدْنَا آبَاءنَا كَذَلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)."

Ayah: 75
Arabic:	قَالَ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,-

Ayah: 76
Arabic:	أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمُ الْأَقْدَمُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Ye and your fathers before you?-

Ayah: 77
Arabic:	فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّي إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds;

Ayah: 78
Arabic:	الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ
Yusuf Ali:	"Who created me, and it is He Who guides me;

Ayah: 79
Arabic:	وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ
Yusuf Ali:	"Who gives me food and drink,

Ayah: 80
Arabic:	وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
Yusuf Ali:	"And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me;

Ayah: 81
Arabic:	وَالَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ
Yusuf Ali:	"Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again);

Ayah: 82
Arabic:	وَالَّذِي أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ
Yusuf Ali:	"And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment.

Ayah: 83
Arabic:	رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous;

Ayah: 84
Arabic:	وَاجْعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations);

Ayah: 85
Arabic:	وَاجْعَلْنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ
Yusuf Ali:	"Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss;

Ayah: 86
Arabic:	وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray;

Ayah: 87
Arabic:	وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;-

Ayah: 88
Arabic:	يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail,

Ayah: 89
Arabic:	إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	"But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart;

Ayah: 90
Arabic:	وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near,

Ayah: 91
Arabic:	وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view;

Ayah: 92
Arabic:	وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped-

Ayah: 93
Arabic:	مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?'

Ayah: 94
Arabic:	فَكُبْكِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil,

Ayah: 95
Arabic:	وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And the whole hosts of Iblis together.

Ayah: 96
Arabic:	قَالُوا وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"They will say there in their mutual bickerings:

Ayah: 97
Arabic:	تَاللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ
Yusuf Ali:	"'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest,

Ayah: 98
Arabic:	إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds;

Ayah: 99
Arabic:	وَمَا أَضَلَّنَا إِلَّا الْمُجْرِمُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt.

Ayah: 100
Arabic:	فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَافِعِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us),

Ayah: 101
Arabic:	وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	"'Nor a single friend to feel (for us).

Ayah: 102
Arabic:	فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'"

Ayah: 103
Arabic:	إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe.

Ayah: 104
Arabic:	وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

Ayah: 105
Arabic:	كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	The people of Noah rejected the messengers.

Ayah: 106
Arabic:	إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Behold, their brother Noah said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

Ayah: 107
Arabic:	إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
Yusuf Ali:	"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:

Ayah: 108
Arabic:	فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	"So fear Allah, and obey me.

Ayah: 109
Arabic:	وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds:

Ayah: 110
Arabic:	فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	"So fear Allah, and obey me."

Ayah: 111
Arabic:	قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "Shall we believe in thee when it is the meanest that follow thee?"

Ayah: 112
Arabic:	قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِي بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	He said: "And what do I know as to what they do?

Ayah: 113
Arabic:	إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّي لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Their account is only with my Lord, if ye could (but) understand.

Ayah: 114
Arabic:	وَمَا أَنَا بِطَارِدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"I am not one to drive away those who believe.

Ayah: 115
Arabic:	إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
Yusuf Ali:	"I am sent only to warn plainly in public."

Ayah: 116
Arabic:	قَالُوا لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَا نُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمَرْجُومِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)."

Ayah: 117
Arabic:	قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي كَذَّبُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	He said: "O my Lord! truly my people have rejected me.

Ayah: 118
Arabic:	فَافْتَحْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِي وَمَن مَّعِي مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Judge Thou, then, between me and them openly, and deliver me and those of the Believers who are with me."

Ayah: 119
Arabic:	فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	So We delivered him and those with him, in the Ark filled (with all creatures).

Ayah: 120
Arabic:	ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ الْبَاقِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Thereafter We drowned those who remained behind.

Ayah: 121
Arabic:	إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

Ayah: 122
Arabic:	وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

Ayah: 123
Arabic:	كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers.

Ayah: 124
Arabic:	إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

Ayah: 125
Arabic:	إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
Yusuf Ali:	"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:

Ayah: 126
Arabic:	فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	"So fear Allah and obey me.

Ayah: 127
Arabic:	وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

Ayah: 128
Arabic:	أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ آيَةً تَعْبَثُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves?

Ayah: 129
Arabic:	وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)?

Ayah: 130
Arabic:	وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power?

Ayah: 131
Arabic:	فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	"Now fear Allah, and obey me.

Ayah: 132
Arabic:	وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know.

Ayah: 133
Arabic:	أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَامٍ وَبَنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,-

Ayah: 134
Arabic:	وَجَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Yusuf Ali:	"And Gardens and Springs.

Ayah: 135
Arabic:	إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	"Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day."

Ayah: 136
Arabic:	قَالُوا سَوَاء عَلَيْنَا أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ الْوَاعِظِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers!

Ayah: 137
Arabic:	إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا خُلُقُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"This is no other than a customary device of the ancients,

Ayah: 138
Arabic:	وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!"

Ayah: 139
Arabic:	فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

Ayah: 140
Arabic:	وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

Ayah: 141
Arabic:	كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers.

Ayah: 142
Arabic:	إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَالِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)?

Ayah: 143
Arabic:	إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
Yusuf Ali:	"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.

Ayah: 144
Arabic:	فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	"So fear Allah, and obey me.

Ayah: 145
Arabic:	وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

Ayah: 146
Arabic:	أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَاهُنَا آمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here?-

Ayah: 147
Arabic:	فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Yusuf Ali:	"Gardens and Springs,

Ayah: 148
Arabic:	وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ
Yusuf Ali:	"And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)?

Ayah: 149
Arabic:	وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَارِهِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill.

Ayah: 150
Arabic:	فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	"But fear Allah and obey me;

Ayah: 151
Arabic:	وَلَا تُطِيعُوا أَمْرَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,-

Ayah: 152
Arabic:	الَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)."

Ayah: 153
Arabic:	قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!

Ayah: 154
Arabic:	مَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِآيَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!"

Ayah: 155
Arabic:	قَالَ هَذِهِ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
Yusuf Ali:	He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed.

Ayah: 156
Arabic:	وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	"Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you."

Ayah: 157
Arabic:	فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا نَادِمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets.

Ayah: 158
Arabic:	فَأَخَذَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

Ayah: 159
Arabic:	وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

Ayah: 160
Arabic:	كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	The people of Lut rejected the messengers.

Ayah: 161
Arabic:	إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

Ayah: 162
Arabic:	إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
Yusuf Ali:	"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.

Ayah: 163
Arabic:	فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	"So fear Allah and obey me.

Ayah: 164
Arabic:	وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds.

Ayah: 165
Arabic:	أَتَأْتُونَ الذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males,

Ayah: 166
Arabic:	وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُم بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!"

Ayah: 167
Arabic:	قَالُوا لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَا لُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُخْرَجِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!"

Ayah: 168
Arabic:	قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ الْقَالِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	He said: "I do detest your doings."

Ayah: 169
Arabic:	رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهْلِي مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!"

Ayah: 170
Arabic:	فَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	So We delivered him and his family,- all

Ayah: 171
Arabic:	إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Except an old woman who lingered behind.

Ayah: 172
Arabic:	ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	But the rest We destroyed utterly.

Ayah: 173
Arabic:	وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا فَسَاء مَطَرُ الْمُنذَرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)!

Ayah: 174
Arabic:	إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

Ayah: 175
Arabic:	وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful.

Ayah: 176
Arabic:	كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers.

Ayah: 177
Arabic:	إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

Ayah: 178
Arabic:	إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
Yusuf Ali:	"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.

Ayah: 179
Arabic:	فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	"So fear Allah and obey me.

Ayah: 180
Arabic:	وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

Ayah: 181
Arabic:	أَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud).

Ayah: 182
Arabic:	وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ
Yusuf Ali:	"And weigh with scales true and upright.

Ayah: 183
Arabic:	وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief.

Ayah: 184
Arabic:	وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)"

Ayah: 185
Arabic:	قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!

Ayah: 186
Arabic:	وَمَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar!

Ayah: 187
Arabic:	فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَاء إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!"

Ayah: 188
Arabic:	قَالَ رَبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do."

Ayah: 189
Arabic:	فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day.

Ayah: 190
Arabic:	إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

Ayah: 191
Arabic:	وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

Ayah: 192
Arabic:	وَإِنَّهُ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds:

Ayah: 193
Arabic:	نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِينُ
Yusuf Ali:	With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth-

Ayah: 194
Arabic:	عَلَى قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنذِرِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish.

Ayah: 195
Arabic:	بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيٍّ مُّبِينٍ
Yusuf Ali:	In the perspicuous Arabic tongue.

Ayah: 196
Arabic:	وَإِنَّهُ لَفِي زُبُرِ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples.

Ayah: 197
Arabic:	أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ آيَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُ عُلَمَاء بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Yusuf Ali:	Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)?

Ayah: 198
Arabic:	وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَاهُ عَلَى بَعْضِ الْأَعْجَمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs,

Ayah: 199
Arabic:	فَقَرَأَهُ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ مُؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it.

Ayah: 200
Arabic:	كَذَلِكَ سَلَكْنَاهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners.

Ayah: 201
Arabic:	لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ حَتَّى يَرَوُا الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ
Yusuf Ali:	They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty;

Ayah: 202
Arabic:	فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not;

Ayah: 203
Arabic:	فَيَقُولُوا هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?"

Ayah: 204
Arabic:	أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on?

Ayah: 205
Arabic:	أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَاهُمْ سِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years,

Ayah: 206
Arabic:	ثُمَّ جَاءهُم مَّا كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised!

Ayah: 207
Arabic:	مَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يُمَتَّعُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)!

Ayah: 208
Arabic:	وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners -

Ayah: 209
Arabic:	ذِكْرَى وَمَا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	By way of reminder; and We never are unjust.

Ayah: 210
Arabic:	وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ
Yusuf Ali:	No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation):

Ayah: 211
Arabic:	وَمَا يَنبَغِي لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it).

Ayah: 212
Arabic:	إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it.

Ayah: 213
Arabic:	فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty.

Ayah: 214
Arabic:	وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	And admonish thy nearest kinsmen,

Ayah: 215
Arabic:	وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee.

Ayah: 216
Arabic:	فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!"

Ayah: 217
Arabic:	وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ
Yusuf Ali:	And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,-

Ayah: 218
Arabic:	الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
Yusuf Ali:	Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer),

Ayah: 219
Arabic:	وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي السَّاجِدِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves,

Ayah: 220
Arabic:	إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things.

Ayah: 221
Arabic:	هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَى مَن تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيَاطِينُ
Yusuf Ali:	Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend?

Ayah: 222
Arabic:	تَنَزَّلُ عَلَى كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	They descend on every lying, wicked person,

Ayah: 223
Arabic:	يُلْقُونَ السَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَاذِبُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	(Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars.

Ayah: 224
Arabic:	وَالشُّعَرَاء يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them:

Ayah: 225
Arabic:	أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?-

Ayah: 226
Arabic:	وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	And that they say what they practise not?-

Ayah: 227
Arabic:	إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَانتَصَرُوا مِن بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا وَسَيَعْلَمُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustlyattacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes theiraffairs will take!
