In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Ayah: 1 |

Arabic: |
لَا
أُقْسِمُ
بِيَوْمِ
الْقِيَامَةِ
|
Shakir: |
Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. |
Ayah: 2 |
|
Arabic: |
وَلَا
أُقْسِمُ
بِالنَّفْسِ
اللَّوَّامَةِ
|
Shakir: |
Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. |
Ayah: 3 |
|
Arabic: |
أَيَحْسَبُ
الْإِنسَانُ
أَلَّن
نَجْمَعَ
عِظَامَهُ
|
Shakir: |
Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? |
Ayah: 4 |
|
Arabic: |
بَلَى
قَادِرِينَ
عَلَى أَن
نُّسَوِّيَ
بَنَانَهُ
|
Shakir: |
Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips |
Ayah: 5 |
|
Arabic: |
بَلْ
يُرِيدُ
الْإِنسَانُ
لِيَفْجُرَ
أَمَامَهُ
|
Shakir: |
Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. |
Ayah: 6 |
|
Arabic: |
يَسْأَلُ
أَيَّانَ
يَوْمُ
الْقِيَامَةِ
|
Shakir: |
He asks: When is the day of resurrection? |
Ayah: 7 |
|
Arabic: |
فَإِذَا
بَرِقَ
الْبَصَرُ
|
Shakir: |
So when the sight becomes dazed, |
Ayah: 8 |
|
Arabic: |
وَخَسَفَ
الْقَمَرُ
|
Shakir: |
And the moon becomes dark, |
Ayah: 9 |
|
Arabic: |
وَجُمِعَ
الشَّمْسُ
وَالْقَمَرُ
|
Shakir: |
And the sun and the moon are brought together, |
Ayah: 10 |
|
Arabic: |
يَقُولُ
الْإِنسَانُ
يَوْمَئِذٍ
أَيْنَ
الْمَفَرُّ
|
Shakir: |
Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? |
Ayah: 11 |
|
Arabic: |
كَلَّا
لَا وَزَرَ
|
Shakir: |
By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! |
Ayah: 12 |
|
Arabic: |
إِلَى
رَبِّكَ
يَوْمَئِذٍ
الْمُسْتَقَرُّ
|
Shakir: |
With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. |
Ayah: 13 |
|
Arabic: |
يُنَبَّأُ
الْإِنسَانُ
يَوْمَئِذٍ
بِمَا
قَدَّمَ
وَأَخَّرَ
|
Shakir: |
Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. |
Ayah: 14 |
|
Arabic: |
بَلِ
الْإِنسَانُ
عَلَى
نَفْسِهِ
بَصِيرَةٌ
|
Shakir: |
Nay! man is evidence against himself, |
Ayah: 15 |
|
Arabic: |
وَلَوْ
أَلْقَى
مَعَاذِيرَهُ
|
Shakir: |
Though he puts forth his excuses. |
Ayah: 16 |
|
Arabic: |
لَا
تُحَرِّكْ
بِهِ
لِسَانَكَ
لِتَعْجَلَ
بِهِ
|
Shakir: |
Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, |
Ayah: 17 |
|
Arabic: |
إِنَّ
عَلَيْنَا
جَمْعَهُ
وَقُرْآنَهُ
|
Shakir: |
Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. |
Ayah: 18 |
|
Arabic: |
فَإِذَا
قَرَأْنَاهُ
فَاتَّبِعْ
قُرْآنَهُ
|
Shakir: |
Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. |
Ayah: 19 |
|
Arabic: |
ثُمَّ
إِنَّ
عَلَيْنَا
بَيَانَهُ
|
Shakir: |
Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. |
Ayah: 20 |
|
Arabic: |
كَلَّا
بَلْ
تُحِبُّونَ
الْعَاجِلَةَ
|
Shakir: |
Nay! But you love the present life, |
Ayah: 21 |
|
Arabic: |
وَتَذَرُونَ
الْآخِرَةَ
|
Shakir: |
And neglect the hereafter. |
Ayah: 22 |
|
Arabic: |
وُجُوهٌ
يَوْمَئِذٍ
نَّاضِرَةٌ
|
Shakir: |
(Some) faces on that day shall be bright, |
Ayah: 23 |
|
Arabic: |
إِلَى
رَبِّهَا
نَاظِرَةٌ
|
Shakir: |
Looking to their Lord. |
Ayah: 24 |
|
Arabic: |
وَوُجُوهٌ
يَوْمَئِذٍ
بَاسِرَةٌ
|
Shakir: |
And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, |
Ayah: 25 |
|
Arabic: |
تَظُنُّ
أَن
يُفْعَلَ
بِهَا
فَاقِرَةٌ
|
Shakir: |
Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. |
Ayah: 26 |
|
Arabic: |
كَلَّا
إِذَا
بَلَغَتْ
التَّرَاقِيَ
|
Shakir: |
Nay! When it comes up to the throat, |
Ayah: 27 |
|
Arabic: |
وَقِيلَ
مَنْ رَاقٍ
|
Shakir: |
And it is said: Who will be a magician? |
Ayah: 28 |
|
Arabic: |
وَظَنَّ
أَنَّهُ
الْفِرَاقُ
|
Shakir: |
And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting |
Ayah: 29 |
|
Arabic: |
وَالْتَفَّتِ
السَّاقُ
بِالسَّاقِ
|
Shakir: |
And affliction is combined with affliction; |
Ayah: 30 |
|
Arabic: |
إِلَى
رَبِّكَ
يَوْمَئِذٍ
الْمَسَاقُ
|
Shakir: |
To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. |
Ayah: 31 |
|
Arabic: |
فَلَا
صَدَّقَ
وَلَا
صَلَّى
|
Shakir: |
So he did not accept the truth, nor did he pray, |
Ayah: 32 |
|
Arabic: |
وَلَكِن
كَذَّبَ
وَتَوَلَّى
|
Shakir: |
But called the truth a lie and turned back, |
Ayah: 33 |
|
Arabic: |
ثُمَّ
ذَهَبَ
إِلَى
أَهْلِهِ
يَتَمَطَّى
|
Shakir: |
Then he went to his followers, walking away in haughtiness. |
Ayah: 34 |
|
Arabic: |
أَوْلَى
لَكَ
فَأَوْلَى
|
Shakir: |
Nearer to you (is destruction) and nearer, |
Ayah: 35 |
|
Arabic: |
ثُمَّ
أَوْلَى
لَكَ
فَأَوْلَى
|
Shakir: |
Again (consider how) nearer to you and nearer. |
Ayah: 36 |
|
Arabic: |
أَيَحْسَبُ
الْإِنسَانُ
أَن
يُتْرَكَ
سُدًى
|
Shakir: |
Does man think that he is to be left to wander without an aim? |
Ayah: 37 |
|
Arabic: |
أَلَمْ
يَكُ
نُطْفَةً
مِّن
مَّنِيٍّ
يُمْنَى
|
Shakir: |
Was he not a small seed in the seminal elements, |
Ayah: 38 |
|
Arabic: |
ثُمَّ
كَانَ
عَلَقَةً
فَخَلَقَ
فَسَوَّى
|
Shakir: |
Then he was a clot of blood, so He created (him) then made (him) perfect. |
Ayah: 39 |
|
Arabic: |
فَجَعَلَ
مِنْهُ
الزَّوْجَيْنِ
الذَّكَرَ
وَالْأُنثَى
|
Shakir: |
Then He made of him two kinds, the male and the female. |
Ayah: 40 |
|
Arabic: |
أَلَيْسَ
ذَلِكَ
بِقَادِرٍ
عَلَى أَن
يُحْيِيَ
الْمَوْتَى
|
Shakir: |
Is not He able to give life to the dead? |
