Surah An-Naziat (those who drag forth, soul-Snatchers)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Total Verses : 46 - Listen to Recitation of this Surah with Translation

Ayah: 1
Arabic:	وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا
Yusuf Ali:	By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence;

Ayah: 2
Arabic:	وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا
Yusuf Ali:	By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed);

Ayah: 3
Arabic:	وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا
Yusuf Ali:	And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy),

Ayah: 4
Arabic:	فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا
Yusuf Ali:	Then press forward as in a race,

Ayah: 5
Arabic:	فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا
Yusuf Ali:	Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord),

Ayah: 6
Arabic:	يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ
Yusuf Ali:	One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion,

Ayah: 7
Arabic:	تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ
Yusuf Ali:	Followed by oft-repeated (commotions):

Ayah: 8
Arabic:	قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ
Yusuf Ali:	Hearts that Day will be in agitation;

Ayah: 9
Arabic:	أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ
Yusuf Ali:	Cast down will be (their owners') eyes.

Ayah: 10
Arabic:	يَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ
Yusuf Ali:	They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state?

Ayah: 11
Arabic:	أَئِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةً
Yusuf Ali:	"What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?"

Ayah: 12
Arabic:	قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ
Yusuf Ali:	They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!"

Ayah: 13
Arabic:	فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ
Yusuf Ali:	But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry,

Ayah: 14
Arabic:	فَإِذَا هُم بِالسَّاهِرَةِ
Yusuf Ali:	When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment).

Ayah: 15
Arabic:	هَلْ أتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَى
Yusuf Ali:	Has the story of Moses reached thee?

Ayah: 16
Arabic:	إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
Yusuf Ali:	Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:-

Ayah: 17
Arabic:	اذْهَبْ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَى
Yusuf Ali:	"Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds:

Ayah: 18
Arabic:	فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَى أَن تَزَكَّى
Yusuf Ali:	"And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?-

Ayah: 19
Arabic:	وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَى
Yusuf Ali:	"'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'"

Ayah: 20
Arabic:	فَأَرَاهُ الْآيَةَ الْكُبْرَى
Yusuf Ali:	Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign.

Ayah: 21
Arabic:	فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَى
Yusuf Ali:	But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance);

Ayah: 22
Arabic:	ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَى
Yusuf Ali:	Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah).

Ayah: 23
Arabic:	فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَى
Yusuf Ali:	Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation,

Ayah: 24
Arabic:	فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَى
Yusuf Ali:	Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High".

Ayah: 25
Arabic:	فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَى
Yusuf Ali:	But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life.

Ayah: 26
Arabic:	إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَى
Yusuf Ali:	Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah).

Ayah: 27
Arabic:	أَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ السَّمَاء بَنَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it:

Ayah: 28
Arabic:	رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection.

Ayah: 29
Arabic:	وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light).

Ayah: 30
Arabic:	وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ دَحَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse);

Ayah: 31
Arabic:	أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	He draweth out therefrom its moisture and its pasture;

Ayah: 32
Arabic:	وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	And the mountains hath He firmly fixed;-

Ayah: 33
Arabic:	مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ
Yusuf Ali:	For use and convenience to you and your cattle.

Ayah: 34
Arabic:	فَإِذَا جَاءتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَى
Yusuf Ali:	Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event),-

Ayah: 35
Arabic:	يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنسَانُ مَا سَعَى
Yusuf Ali:	The Day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for,

Ayah: 36
Arabic:	وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَى
Yusuf Ali:	And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see,-

Ayah: 37
Arabic:	فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَى
Yusuf Ali:	Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds,

Ayah: 38
Arabic:	وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
Yusuf Ali:	And had preferred the life of this world,

Ayah: 39
Arabic:	فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَى
Yusuf Ali:	The Abode will be Hell-Fire;

Ayah: 40
Arabic:	وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَى
Yusuf Ali:	And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lowerdesires,

Ayah: 41
Arabic:	فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَى
Yusuf Ali:	Their abode will be the Garden.

Ayah: 42
Arabic:	يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time?

Ayah: 43
Arabic:	فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof?

Ayah: 44
Arabic:	إِلَى رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	With thy Lord in the Limit fixed therefor.

Ayah: 45
Arabic:	إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it.

Ayah: 46
Arabic:	كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا
Yusuf Ali:	The Day they see it, (It will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn!
