Arabic: |
سَأَلَ
سَائِلٌ
بِعَذَابٍ
وَاقِعٍ
|
Shakir: |
One demanding, demanded the chastisement which must befall |
Ayah: 2 |
|
Arabic: |
لِّلْكَافِرينَ
لَيْسَ
لَهُ
دَافِعٌ
|
Shakir: |
The unbelievers-- there is none to avert it-- |
Ayah: 3 |
|
Arabic: |
مِّنَ
اللَّهِ
ذِي
الْمَعَارِجِ
|
Shakir: |
From Allah, the Lord of the ways of Ascent. |
Ayah: 4 |
|
Arabic: |
تَعْرُجُ
الْمَلَائِكَةُ
وَالرُّوحُ
إِلَيْهِ
فِي يَوْمٍ
كَانَ
مِقْدَارُهُ
خَمْسِينَ
أَلْفَ
سَنَةٍ
|
Shakir: |
To Him ascend the angels and the Spirit in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years. |
Ayah: 5 |
|
Arabic: |
فَاصْبِرْ
صَبْرًا
جَمِيلًا
|
Shakir: |
Therefore endure with a goodly patience. |
Ayah: 6 |
|
Arabic: |
إِنَّهُمْ
يَرَوْنَهُ
بَعِيدًا
|
Shakir: |
Surely they think it to be far off, |
Ayah: 7 |
|
Arabic: |
وَنَرَاهُ
قَرِيبًا
|
Shakir: |
And We see it nigh. |
Ayah: 8 |
|
Arabic: |
يَوْمَ
تَكُونُ
السَّمَاء
كَالْمُهْلِ
|
Shakir: |
On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper |
Ayah: 9 |
|
Arabic: |
وَتَكُونُ
الْجِبَالُ
كَالْعِهْنِ
|
Shakir: |
And the mountains shall be as tufts of wool |
Ayah: 10 |
|
Arabic: |
وَلَا
يَسْأَلُ
حَمِيمٌ
حَمِيمًا
|
Shakir: |
And friend shall not ask of friend |
Ayah: 11 |
|
Arabic: |
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ
يَوَدُّ
الْمُجْرِمُ
لَوْ
يَفْتَدِي
مِنْ
عَذَابِ
يَوْمِئِذٍ
بِبَنِيهِ
|
Shakir: |
(Though) they shall be made to see each other. The guilty one would fain redeem himself from the chastisement of that day by (sacrificing) his children, |
Ayah: 12 |
|
Arabic: |
وَصَاحِبَتِهِ
وَأَخِيهِ
|
Shakir: |
And his wife and his brother |
Ayah: 13 |
|
Arabic: |
وَفَصِيلَتِهِ
الَّتِي
تُؤْويهِ
|
Shakir: |
And the nearest of his kinsfolk who gave him shelter, |
Ayah: 14 |
|
Arabic: |
وَمَن
فِي
الْأَرْضِ
جَمِيعًا
ثُمَّ
يُنجِيهِ
|
Shakir: |
And all those that are in the earth, (wishing) then (that) this might deliver him. |
Ayah: 15 |
|
Arabic: |
كَلَّا
إِنَّهَا
لَظَى
|
Shakir: |
By no means! Surely it is a flaming fire |
Ayah: 16 |
|
Arabic: |
نَزَّاعَةً
لِّلشَّوَى
|
Shakir: |
Dragging by the head, |
Ayah: 17 |
|
Arabic: |
تَدْعُو
مَنْ
أَدْبَرَ
وَتَوَلَّى
|
Shakir: |
It shall claim him who turned and fled (from truth), |
Ayah: 18 |
|
Arabic: |
وَجَمَعَ
فَأَوْعَى
|
Shakir: |
And amasses (wealth) then shuts it up. |
Ayah: 19 |
|
Arabic: |
إِنَّ
الْإِنسَانَ
خُلِقَ
هَلُوعًا
|
Shakir: |
Surely man is created of a hasty temperament |
Ayah: 20 |
|
Arabic: |
إِذَا
مَسَّهُ
الشَّرُّ
جَزُوعًا
|
Shakir: |
Being greatly grieved when evil afflicts him |
Ayah: 21 |
|
Arabic: |
وَإِذَا
مَسَّهُ
الْخَيْرُ
مَنُوعًا
|
Shakir: |
And niggardly when good befalls him |
Ayah: 22 |
|
Arabic: |
إِلَّا
الْمُصَلِّينَ
|
Shakir: |
Except those who pray, |
Ayah: 23 |
|
Arabic: |
الَّذِينَ
هُمْ عَلَى
صَلَاتِهِمْ
دَائِمُونَ
|
Shakir: |
Those who are constant at their prayer |
Ayah: 24 |
|
Arabic: |
وَالَّذِينَ
فِي
أَمْوَالِهِمْ
حَقٌّ
مَّعْلُومٌ
|
Shakir: |
And those in whose wealth there is a fixed portion. |
Ayah: 25 |
|
Arabic: |
لِّلسَّائِلِ
وَالْمَحْرُومِ
|
Shakir: |
For him who begs and for him who is denied (good) |
Ayah: 26 |
|
Arabic: |
وَالَّذِينَ
يُصَدِّقُونَ
بِيَوْمِ
الدِّينِ
|
Shakir: |
And those who accept the truth of the judgment day |
Ayah: 27 |
|
Arabic: |
وَالَّذِينَ
هُم مِّنْ
عَذَابِ
رَبِّهِم
مُّشْفِقُونَ
|
Shakir: |
And those who are fearful of the chastisement of their Lord-- |
Ayah: 28 |
|
Arabic: |
إِنَّ
عَذَابَ
رَبِّهِمْ
غَيْرُ
مَأْمُونٍ
|
Shakir: |
Surely the chastisement of their Lord is (a thing) not to be felt secure of-- |
Ayah: 29 |
|
Arabic: |
وَالَّذِينَ
هُمْ
لِفُرُوجِهِمْ
حَافِظُونَ
|
Shakir: |
And those who guard their private parts, |
Ayah: 30 |
|
Arabic: |
إِلَّا
عَلَى
أَزْوَاجِهِمْ
أَوْ مَا
مَلَكَتْ
أَيْمَانُهُمْ
فَإِنَّهُمْ
غَيْرُ
مَلُومِينَ
|
Shakir: |
Except in the case of their wives or those whom their right hands possess-- for these surely are not to be blamed, |
Ayah: 31 |
|
Arabic: |
فَمَنِ
ابْتَغَى
وَرَاء
ذَلِكَ
فَأُوْلَئِكَ
هُمُ
الْعَادُونَ
|
Shakir: |
But he who seeks to go beyond this, these it is that go beyond the limits-- |
Ayah: 32 |
|
Arabic: |
وَالَّذِينَ
هُمْ
لِأَمَانَاتِهِمْ
وَعَهْدِهِمْ
رَاعُونَ
|
Shakir: |
And those who are faithful to their trusts and their covenant |
Ayah: 33 |
|
Arabic: |
وَالَّذِينَ
هُم
بِشَهَادَاتِهِمْ
قَائِمُونَ
|
Shakir: |
And those who are upright in their testimonies, |
Ayah: 34 |
|
Arabic: |
وَالَّذِينَ
هُمْ عَلَى
صَلَاتِهِمْ
يُحَافِظُونَ
|
Shakir: |
And those who keep a guard on their prayer, |
Ayah: 35 |
|
Arabic: |
أُوْلَئِكَ
فِي
جَنَّاتٍ
مُّكْرَمُونَ
|
Shakir: |
Those shall be in gardens, honored. |
Ayah: 36 |
|
Arabic: |
فَمَالِ
الَّذِينَ
كَفَرُوا
قِبَلَكَ
مُهْطِعِينَ
|
Shakir: |
But what is the matter with those who disbelieve that they hasten on around you, |
Ayah: 37 |
|
Arabic: |
عَنِ
الْيَمِينِ
وَعَنِ
الشِّمَالِ
عِزِينَ
|
Shakir: |
On the right hand and on the left, in sundry parties? |
Ayah: 38 |
|
Arabic: |
أَيَطْمَعُ
كُلُّ
امْرِئٍ
مِّنْهُمْ
أَن
يُدْخَلَ
جَنَّةَ
نَعِيمٍ
|
Shakir: |
Does every man of them desire that he should be made to enter the garden of bliss? |
Ayah: 39 |
|
Arabic: |
كَلَّا
إِنَّا
خَلَقْنَاهُم
مِّمَّا
يَعْلَمُونَ
|
Shakir: |
By no means! Surely We have created them of what they know. |
Ayah: 40 |
|
Arabic: |
فَلَا
أُقْسِمُ
بِرَبِّ
الْمَشَارِقِ
وَالْمَغَارِبِ
إِنَّا
لَقَادِرُونَ
|
Shakir: |
But nay! I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests that We are certainly able |
Ayah: 41 |
|
Arabic: |
عَلَى
أَن
نُّبَدِّلَ
خَيْرًا
مِّنْهُمْ
وَمَا
نَحْنُ
بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
|
Shakir: |
To bring instead (others) better than them, and We shall not be overcome. |
Ayah: 42 |
|
Arabic: |
فَذَرْهُمْ
يَخُوضُوا
وَيَلْعَبُوا
حَتَّى
يُلَاقُوا
يَوْمَهُمُ
الَّذِي
يُوعَدُونَ
|
Shakir: |
Therefore leave them alone to go on with the false discourses and to sport until they come face to face with that day of theirs with which they are threatened; |
Ayah: 43 |
|
Arabic: |
يَوْمَ
يَخْرُجُونَ
مِنَ
الْأَجْدَاثِ
سِرَاعًا
كَأَنَّهُمْ
إِلَى
نُصُبٍ
يُوفِضُونَ
|
Shakir: |
The day on which they shall come forth from their graves in haste, as if they were hastening on to a goal, |
Ayah: 44 |
|
Arabic: |
خَاشِعَةً
أَبْصَارُهُمْ
تَرْهَقُهُمْ
ذِلَّةٌ
ذَلِكَ
الْيَوْمُ
الَّذِي
كَانُوا
يُوعَدُونَ
|
Shakir: |
Their eyes cast down; disgrace shall overtake them; that is the day which they were threatened with. |
