59 - Listen to Recitation of this Surah with Translation

Ayah: 1
Arabic: حم
Shakir: Ha Mim!

Ayah: 2
Arabic: وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ
Shakir: I swear by the Book that makes manifest (the truth).

Ayah: 3
Arabic: إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
Shakir: Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning--

Ayah: 4
Arabic: فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ
Shakir: Therein every wise affair is made distinct,

Ayah: 5
Arabic: أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ
Shakir: A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of messengers),

Ayah: 6
Arabic: رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Shakir: A mercy from your Lord, surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing,

Ayah: 7
Arabic: رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
Shakir: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure.

Ayah: 8
Arabic: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Shakir: There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore.

Ayah: 9
Arabic: بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ
Shakir: Nay, they are in doubt, they sport.

Ayah: 10
Arabic: فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاء بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
Shakir: Therefore keep waiting for the day when the heaven shall bring an evident smoke,

Ayah: 11
Arabic: يَغْشَى النَّاسَ هَذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Shakir: That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment.

Ayah: 12
Arabic: رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
Shakir: Our Lord! remove from us the punishment; surely we are believers.

Ayah: 13
Arabic: أَنَّى لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَى وَقَدْ جَاءهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ
Shakir: How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Messenger making clear (the truth),

Ayah: 14
Arabic: ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ
Shakir: Yet they turned their backs on him and said: One taught (by others), a madman.

Ayah: 15
Arabic: إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ
Shakir: Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil).

Ayah: 16
Arabic: يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَى إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
Shakir: On the day when We will seize (them) with the most violent seizing; surely We will inflict retribution.

Ayah: 17
Arabic: وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
Shakir: And certainly We tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble messenger,

Ayah: 18
Arabic: أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
Shakir: Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful messenger to you,

Ayah: 19
Arabic: وَأَنْ لَّا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي آتِيكُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
Shakir: And that do not exalt yourselves against Allah, surely I will bring to you a clear authority:

Ayah: 20
Arabic: وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ
Shakir: And surely I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord that you should stone me to death:

Ayah: 21
Arabic: وَإِنْ لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ
Shakir: And if you do not believe in me, then leave me alone.

Ayah: 22
Arabic: فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَؤُلَاء قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ
Shakir: Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people.

Ayah: 23
Arabic: فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
Shakir: So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued:

Ayah: 24
Arabic: وَاتْرُكْ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ
Shakir: And leave the sea intervening; surely they are a host that shall be drowned.

Ayah: 25
Arabic: كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Shakir: How many of the gardens and fountains have they left!

Ayah: 26
Arabic: وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
Shakir: And cornfields and noble places!

Ayah: 27
Arabic: وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ
Shakir: And goodly things wherein they rejoiced;

Ayah: 28
Arabic: كَذَلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ
Shakir: Thus (it was), and We gave them as a heritage to another people.

Ayah: 29
Arabic: فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاء وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنظَرِينَ
Shakir: So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited.

Ayah: 30
Arabic: وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ
Shakir: And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement,

Ayah: 31
Arabic: مِن فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ
Shakir: From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant.

Ayah: 32
Arabic: وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَى عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ
Shakir: And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations.

Ayah: 33
Arabic: وَآتَيْنَاهُم مِّنَ الْآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَاء مُّبِينٌ
Shakir: And We gave them of the communications wherein was clear blessing.

Ayah: 34
Arabic: إِنَّ هَؤُلَاء لَيَقُولُونَ
Shakir: Most surely these do say:

Ayah: 35
Arabic: إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
Shakir: There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again.

Ayah: 36
Arabic: فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
Shakir: So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful.

Ayah: 37
Arabic: أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ
Shakir: Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty.

Ayah: 38
Arabic: وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ
Shakir: And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport.

Ayah: 39
Arabic: مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Shakir: We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know.

Ayah: 40
Arabic: إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Shakir: Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them

Ayah: 41
Arabic: يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
Shakir: The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped,

Ayah: 42
Arabic: إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ اللَّهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Shakir: Save those on whom Allah shall have mercy; surely He is the Mighty the Merciful.

Ayah: 43
Arabic: إِنَّ شَجَرَةَ الزَّقُّومِ
Shakir: Surely the tree of the Zaqqum,

Ayah: 44
Arabic: طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ
Shakir: Is the food of the sinful

Ayah: 45
Arabic: كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ
Shakir: Like dregs of oil; it shall boil in (their) bellies,

Ayah: 46
Arabic: كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ
Shakir: Like the boiling of hot water.

Ayah: 47
Arabic: خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَى سَوَاء الْجَحِيمِ
Shakir: Seize him, then drag him down into the middle of the hell;

Ayah: 48
Arabic: ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ
Shakir: Then pour above his head of the torment of the boiling water:

Ayah: 49
Arabic: ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ
Shakir: Taste; you forsooth are the mighty, the honorable:

Ayah: 50
Arabic: إِنَّ هَذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ
Shakir: Surely this is what you disputed about.

Ayah: 51
Arabic: إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ
Shakir: Surely those who guard (against evil) are in a secure place,

Ayah: 52
Arabic: فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Shakir: In gardens and springs;

Ayah: 53
Arabic: يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ
Shakir: They shall wear of fine and thick silk, (sitting) face to face;

Ayah: 54
Arabic: كَذَلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
Shakir: Thus (shall it be), and We will wed them with Houris pure, beautiful ones.

Ayah: 55
Arabic: يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ
Shakir: They shall call therein for every fruit in security;

Ayah: 56
Arabic: لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَى وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ
Shakir: They shall not taste therein death except the first death, and He will save them from the punishment of the hell,

Ayah: 57
Arabic: فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
Shakir: A grace from your Lord; this is the great achievement.

Ayah: 58
Arabic: فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
Shakir: So have We made it easy in your tongue that they may be mindful.

Ayah: 59
Arabic: فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ
Shakir: Therefore wait; surely they are waiting.
